The Pros And Cons Of Consulting Psychics In San Diego

By Jeffrey Collins

There is nothing new about people claiming the ability to read the future, to communicate with the dead or to know things that nobody else knows. Para psychology, or the paranormal, is as old as humankind itself. In modern times, seers or oracles such as Nostradamus have gained legendary status and to this day there are people claiming to have a special talent for accessing hidden information, find missing persons and read the minds of other people. Many psychics in San Diego, for example, have thriving practices.

Paranormal practitioners and phenomena suffer from fierce criticism. Critics accuse these practitioners of preying on gullible people, creating hope where it should never be created. They say that these practitioners are nothing but tricksters and that they abuse vulnerable people shamelessly. They remind the public at large that no scientific evidence have ever been recorded to prove that their are people with special paranormal talents.

Some critics are extremely outspoken in their criticism. They say that people consulting these practitioners abdicate their own logical reasoning. This is because they firmly believe the practitioner to be able to see the future or to gain access to knowledge not available to ordinary people. They therefore act blindly on the instructions or suggestions of the practitioner. In many cases, critics say, such gullible clients commit grave mistakes that may influence the rest of their lives.

The fact remains, however, that many mentalists are regularly employed by police departments and businesses. The role these practitioners play in the solving of complex cases is even the subject of several very popular television series. There have been many examples of respectable leaders that consulted with mentalists before they made any important statements or decisions.

Reaction to criticism vary. Many paranormal practitioners say that they are misunderstood. They do not foresee the future and they cannot read minds. Instead, they are able to tune in to the energy radiated by every living thing. This energy can be read by specially sensitive people. Practitioners say that their only mission is to help their clients to live in peace and to make decisions that benefits themselves.

Many practitioners claim no special powers or perceptions. Instead, they claim to have access to a paranormal guide that reveals information to them. In the Bible, prophets claimed that this guide was God Himself. Others claim that spirits from the underworld or deceased people act as their guides. The practitioner is simply a medium that can connect with that guide, often at will but sometimes only when the guide chooses to intervene.

It is perfectly legal to advertise mentalist services, clairvoyance or soothsaying. Many people find great comfort in the belief that they have received advice from beyond the grave. Others simply see the entire business as harmless entertainment. Clients should be careful, however, to maintain a measure of independent judgement and to acknowledge the fact that they, and they alone remain responsible for the decisions that they make.

Spiritualism, clairvoyance and mentalist is as old as the earth itself. Science may not be able to verify that there are people with special paranormal abilities, but there have certainly been many cases that may just make one think twice. Perhaps the best course of action is to keep an open mind and to accept the fact that humans do not yet know everything.
