An irritable bowel syndrome refers to a gastrointestinal disorder. This is similar to other disorders such as bloating and indigestions. Probiotics are defined as living microorganisms which in adequate numbers can offer great health benefits. They are like bacteria or yeast which is available in supplements and some foods. Our bodies carry almost more than 500 different species of bacteria whose functions are to keep our intestines and immune system healthy.

The use of antibiotics upsets the balance of healthy bacteria present in the gastrointestinal tract. This causes the lining of the intestines to get damaged which is a dangerous thing. Such wounds could result into ulcers. The introduction of new organisms like those present in the probiotics corrects the imbalance by restoring the intestinal lining to a healthy state just as before.

Apart from treating the IBS, the organisms in this bacteria also help in the treatment of other gastrointestinal disorders which include diarrhea, colitis, bloating, indigestion, and acid reflux. Some studies have been carried out to indicate how responsive the IBS symptoms are for various different probiotic medications.

The Bidifidobacterium infantis is one of these bacteria which have been tested in the high quality tests. It has shown great beneficial effects towards the control of IBS. It has been shown to greatly influence and improve the symptoms of IBS that are gases and bloating. There are more studies which have been conducted although many of this are small and of low quality.

The probiotics can regulate bowel function including sensation, motility and immune function. They can be purchased in many different forms which include pills, liquid or powder. They can also be found in single form or in combination. Some yeast has also been seen as to have some probiotic effects. Yeast, which is dead bacteria, is thus being studied to find out exactly what effect this bacteria have in the treatment of IBS.

When you are under this therapy, there are rules that you have to follow up to get the optimal benefits of utilizing this treatment. This includes; keeping the drugs refrigerated otherwise they become ineffective, you should also use different bacterial strains in order to be able to choose which among them is best. The therapy treatment should also be done immediately after using any antibiotics.

Ensure you take some adequate dosage whether they are in capsules or in powder form. You should not worry about an overdose of this drug, it does not happen. They will not affect you negatively by taking plenty of them. They should not however be taken with food. Take them 30 minutes before eating or an hour after eating. When you are under this therapy, ensure you observe your symptoms and keep a log of the progress you are making.
